Rapid construction of temporary modular prefab hospitals building

In the case of sudden outbreaks of infectious disease epidemics and other public health events, the beds and medical space of traditional hospitals may not be able to meet the demand of patients who have increased dramatically in the short term. Containerized hospitals can be quickly constructed to provide additional medical beds and treatment space in a timely manner, easing the strain on medical resources and providing timely treatment for patients.

Products Description

Containerized construction hospitals can be moved according to actual needs, for example, in different areas of an epidemic outbreak or at a rescue site after a natural disaster, and can be quickly transported to a designated location and put into use. When the epidemic is over or the rescue mission is completed, it can also be easily transferred to other places where it is needed, realizing the reuse of resources.

Successful cases of containerized building hospitals at home and abroad

  • Vulcan Mountain Hospital in Wuhan, China:

Background: In order to centralize the treatment of patients with neocoronitis, Wuhan decided to build the Vulcan Mountain Hospital in early 2020, when an outbreak of neocoronitis occurred in the city and the number of patients increased dramatically, leaving the city with an acute shortage of medical resources.

Construction: Completed and delivered in just 10 days, with thousands of construction workers working around the clock. The hospital was built mainly in containerized cubicle structures and is a large building with a capacity of 1,000 beds.

Significance: Provides critical medical facilities to combat the epidemic, greatly easing the pressure on medical care in Wuhan, and demonstrating to the world China's strong construction capacity and ability to cope with crises.

  • China's Xiamen-aided Square Cabin Hospital Project in Serbia:

Background of construction: Serbia faced the problem of strained medical facilities during the Xinguan epidemic and sought help from China.

Construction situation: European standard 40-foot modular special containers produced by Xiamen city enterprises were shipped to Serbia for the construction of square-cabin medical facilities. These containers are top-loaded with heat-insulating materials for easy assembly and use, and are strong enough to be stacked up to seven or eight stories high.

Significance: Reflecting China's assistance and support to countries along the “Belt and Road”, the containers helped Serbia alleviate its medical difficulties during the epidemic.

  • Cura Container Square Hospital in Turin, Italy:

Background of construction: With the spread of the new crown epidemic around the world, Italy's healthcare system was under tremendous pressure and needed to rapidly expand its emergency facilities.

Construction status: Four weeks old and open. Designed by Carloratti Associati and Italo Rota, each unit is housed in a 20-foot intermodal shipping container with full bio-protective equipment and contains all the medical equipment needed for two ICU patients, such as ventilators, monitors, IV racks and syringe drivers. Connected to the rest of the hospital by an inflatable structure, it can be used as a storage and locker room.

Significance: Provided additional ICU resources for Italy's response to the outbreak, and its design and construction model has served as a reference for other regions.

  • Mobile Clinic lite” in Japan:

Background of construction: In the wake of the New Crown Epidemic, Japanese companies launched small mobile hospitals in response to disasters and other emergencies.

Construction situation: This is a small mobile hospital with built-in negative pressure equipment in a 10-foot container for construction purposes, developed jointly by several companies. It is equipped with negative pressure equipment to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and complies with Japan's building code. Depending on the purpose of use, users can choose between a “fever clinic type” and a “PCR testing clinic type.

Significance: Provides a flexible and convenient solution for medical facilities in Japan, especially for remote areas or temporary medical needs.

  • Container Hospital” in South Korea:

Background of construction: South Korea was experiencing a severe shortage of hospital beds during the New Crown Epidemic as the number of confirmed cases continued to increase.

Construction situation: Daegu City had erected a number of containers as temporary wards, and Seoul also proceeded to convert containers into temporary hospital wards. However, the conditions of these containerized wards were relatively simple, with problems such as inconvenient treatment by medical staff and inconvenient use of medical equipment in small spaces.

Significance: In the case of the epidemic emergency, to a certain extent, to alleviate the shortage of hospital beds in South Korea, is an emergency medical facilities solutions.
